Shake Your Bones

I love Halloween.  It is, without a doubt, my favorite holiday.  It's fun, whimsical, weird, scary, and quirky.  In one word, it's wonderful.  So far I have spent the month of October watching scary movies, decorating my apartment with ornate skulls, and consuming one too many pumpkin flavored treats (it's fine, you can call me basic).  But what good is it to carve a pumpkin if you don't have the proper mood music to do so?  Lucky for you I fixed that problem and curated a 6+ hour Halloween playlist.  Yes, it's more than just 6 hours of "Thriller" and  "Monster Mash" on repeat (although both make an appearance).  So go ahead and put in on at your Halloween bash or as background music while perfecting your slutty mouse costume or maybe while you hide from trick-or-treaters because you would rather keep that bag of mini Snickers to yourself.  Whatever the occasion have a very spooky and happy Halloween week!

Still Not Over Overalls

A few years ago when overalls popped back onto the scene I was eager to revisit this one time staple of my childhood.  Well, it’s been three years and the visit has no signs of ending.  Since around 2012 I have acquired 8 variations of the denim playsuit.  Some long, some short, different hues, and others that resemble something a stylish mechanic may wear on their off time.

Check out my own interpretation of the denim onesie along with some recent street style snaps.

Don’t I look an extra on 90210?

Met Gala 2015

Ah, the Met Gala!  The Oscars way more fun sister where everyone gets super dressed up and dares to be a little rebellious (well, some people do).  I find it to be way more exciting than a traditional award show red carpet and I love when people embrace the theme and just have fun with it.

Below are some of my favorite looks from the evening.  It's difficult to truly pinpoint who was "Best Dressed" but let's take a look at some of my top contenders.

Kerry Washington in Prada.  I love that she paired it with green shoes to keep it from being too precious.

Sienna Miller in Thakoon.  Pants on the red carpet are always a welcome change .

Vanessa Hudgens in custom H&M.  I secretly get giddy when I see H&M on the red carpet.

Brie Larson, Courtney Eaton, and Annabelle Wallis all in Dolce & Gabbana.  Please tell me they walked around together all night.

Karen Elson, another amazing standout in Dolce & Gabbana.  More headwear, please.

Behati Prinsloo in Tommy Hilfger and Constance Jablonski in Theory.  I love that both models went for a minimalist, 90's look.  Two huge standouts for me for their intended simplicity.

Cara Delevingne in Stella McCartney.  Fashion's wild child did not disappoint.

Diane Kruger in Chanel Couture.

Alexa Chung in Erdem.

Zoe Kravitz and Miley Cyrus, both in Alexander Wang.

Mary-Kate Olsen in vintage Dior and Ashley Olsen in John Galliano.  I'm biased but I will simply never not like what they wear.

Jessica Alba in Kenzo.

And finally...

Rihanna in Guo Pei.  Now this is how you make an entrance.  This is so grandiose and feels like everything the Met Gala should be.  Take notes.

Canadian Tuxedo: Summer Edition

Whenever I’m in an “I have nothing to wear” mood (which happens at least once a week), my go-to outfit tends to be double denim.  It’s pretty much a no fail combination that can be styled in any number of ways.  You can mix different colors and fabrics of denim and then take it from dressy to casual depending on your shoe choice.  That’s the look I landed on this past weekend while in my closet trying to pick out what to wear.

What's your go-to no fail outfit?

Raiding Grandma's Closet

A few weeks ago I put on a dress that made my boyfriend ask me if I had been "shopping in his grandma's closet."  While I appreciated the flattering comparison, the answer was no.
